The first car race meeting of the season takes place at Croft Circuit next weekend (15/16 April) when the Midlands-based 750 Motor Club kicks off proceedings with the first of two visits this season to the North Yorkshire track.
Eight different classes will be contested around the full 2.17-mile Croft International track and renowned for their packed grids and quantity of action-packed racing, one of the attractions will be the varied range of cars in action as the club celebrates 84 years of existence this year.
The meeting comprises the opening round of a number of the club’s various championships, whereby over 200 competitors will be in action in the 17 races over the two days.
As usual, the Mazda marque features strongly on both days with three races over the weekend for the 5Club MX5 Cup and the same for the Ma7da Championship whilst the popular Sports 1000 Championship will see the bike-engined sports cars combined with the lesser-tuned Cup 200 competitors take to the track three times also for their 15-minute races.
The UK's biggest single-make Honda championship, the Tegiwa Type R Trophy, will see a packed grid of EP3-generation Civic Type-R models over two 15-minute races on Saturday whilst the Sport Specials class will see a range of Kit Cars, Caterhams, Westfields and MEVs as well as one-off road-going two-seater specials, and will be in action both days.
There is an endurance element to the weekend’s action too when the production sports and saloon-based Roadsports class is contested over a 45-minute race on Saturday, to be followed by the feature Club Enduro race over two hours on Sunday afternoon.
Historic fans are catered for too in Saturday’s pair of races for the Historic 750 Formula which sees such engines as the Austin Seven, Reliant (642cc and 748cc OHV, 747cc side-valve), Ford 1172 side-valve and Climax F3 500cc.
Practice gets underway at 9.30 on Saturday with nine races following afterwards whilst Sunday sees track action from 12.00 noon with the eight remaining races.
Adult admission is just £16.00 in advance (£18.00 on the gate) on both days with accompanied children aged 15 and under admitted FREE on both days. There is also FREE car parking and FREE paddock access.
