The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship produced a sensational show for the capacity crowd in attendance at Croft Circuit this past Sunday (September 19) as Aiden Moffat, Jake Hill and Colin Turkington scored a win apiece.

For the first time in more than two years, thousands of fans descended on the North Yorkshire venue for a full-throttle trio of races from Britain’s premier motorsport series - and they were given plenty of entertainment.

After claiming a maiden pole position on Saturday, Laser Tools Racing’s Moffat didn’t put a wheel wrong in the opening encounter to score his first win of the season. Maintaining the lead off the line, the Infiniti Q50 driver fended off a race-long challenge from Jake Hill.

Holding off the advances of Hill throughout the contest, Moffat became the tenth different victor in the series this year. Yorkshire’s own Senna Proctor gave the local fans plenty to cheer about too as he rounded out the podium in third.

The BTC Racing driver got the jump on Turkington during the opening lap and held position for the remainder of the 18-lap bout.

Race two saw Hill come to the fore as he cruised to a commanding win. Muscling his way past the pole sitter Moffat heading into the Complex on early on, the MB Motorsport drove got his head down and pulled clear as action ensued behind.

With Hill making his escape out front, an almighty battle for second place played out with Moffat - now ladened with 75kgs - fending off the chasing pack of Turkington, Josh Cook, Senna Proctor, Gordon Shedden, Ashley Sutton and Tom Ingram.

As positions changed hands, Moffat continued to hang on to second with the Honda of Cook managing to clinch the third ahead of fellow title contenders Ingram and Sutton.

West Surrey Racing then celebrated their 700th BTCC race in style as four-time champion - and King of Croft - Turkington claimed an emphatic win. Drawn onto pole position via the reverse grid draw, the Northern Irishman produced a measured drive to triumph.

Behind, fans were captivated by the tussle for second between Shedden and Sutton. Providing a resolute defence, Shedden held off the charging championship leader who showed his nose on multiple occasions but ultimately couldn’t make a move stick.

Elsewhere, the TOCA support package took centre stage during Sunday and there was plenty to cheer about. Dan Cammish scored a win at his home circuit in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB before Kiern Jewiss was victorious in race two.

The Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup capped off a memorable meeting with two more full-throttle races. Adam Smalley left it late on before making his move for the lead in race two before Josh Rattican triumphed in race three.

Isaac Smith held off race-long pressure from Max Bird in the Quaife MINI CHALLENGE UK with Max Coates hot on their heels in third. The second Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge race was won by Steve Dailly.

McKenzy Cresswell capped off a memorable weekend as he once again converted pole position into a second commanding lights-to-flag victory in the F4 British Championship certified by FIA - powered by Ford EcoBoost.
