Aiden Moffat produced a superlative lap to claim pole position for the first of tomorrow’s three Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship races in what was an ultra-competitive qualifying at Croft Circuit this afternoon (Saturday 18th September).

During a truncated session around the North Yorkshire track, the Laser Tools Racing driver left it late in the day before powering his Infiniti Q50 to the top of the timesheets - netting him a career-first BTCC pole in the process.

Setting a best time of 1:22.037, the Scotsman edged out MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill to first - with the Ford ace settling for second and locking out the front row. Having held provisional pole for a portion of the session, King of Croft Colin Turkington finished third whilst local star Senna Proctor secured fourth.

Adam Morgan and Tom Oliphant charged to fifth and sixth respectively ahead of 2020 Croft race-winner Josh Cook and current championship leader Ashley Sutton - who impressed once again despite being ladened with 75kgs of success ballast.

Despite suffering a steering issue, Daniel Rowbottom clinched ninth in the closing stages in his Halfords Racing with Cataclean Honda Civic Type R. Double champion Jason Plato meanwhile rounded out the top ten in his Adrian Flux Power Maxed Racing Vauxhall Astra.

It wasn’t just Britain’s premier motorsport series that starred during the day as those in attendance witnessed plenty of entertainment from the TOCA support package as well.

The F4 British Championship certified by FIA - powered by Ford EcoBoost delivered plenty of edge-of-the-seat thrills as McKenzy Cresswell and Dougie Bolger scored a win apiece.

Elsewhere, Tom Hibbert reigned supreme in the Millers Oils Ginetta GT4 Supercup whilst Magnus Kriklywi claimed victory in the Protyre Motorsport Ginetta GT5 Challenge.

There was an abundance of stellar wheel-to-wheel moments in the Quaife MINI CHALLENGE as Dan Zelos charged to an impressive victory.

Rounding out the day’s action was a pulsating qualifying session by the Porsche Carrera Cup GB. Redline Racing’s Dan Cammish gave the local fans plenty to cheer about as he charged to pole position at his home track.

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returns tomorrow (Sunday 19th September) to headline what should be an action-packed day of racing with three contests, whilst there will also be more from the TOCA support package.

Adult tickets will be available to purchase on the gate from £35.00 whilst teen admission is priced at £8.00. Children 12 and under accompanied by an adult are admitted to the circuit free of charge.
